COVID-19 RELIEF SERVICE

Vayunetra Youth and Future Foundation (VYFF) organized the COVID‑19 Relief Service to ensure that vulnerable families received timely medicine and nutritious food during the pandemic. This blog post highlights how the team and volunteers reached people in need, what was distributed, and how the community responded to this support.

Introduction

During the peak of COVID‑19, many families struggled to access basic healthcare, regular medicines, and daily meals due to lockdowns and loss of income. VYFF launched the COVID‑19 Relief Service to bridge this gap by providing essential medicines and food to those most affected.​

Our Relief Activities

• Volunteers identified elderly people, patients with ongoing treatments, daily‑wage workers, and low‑income families who had limited access to pharmacies and markets.​

• The team coordinated with local doctors and medical shops to arrange required medicines and basic health supplies safely and on time.​

• Along with medicines, VYFF distributed food packets and ration kits so that families did not have to worry about their next meal.

Food Support for Families

• Lockdowns left several daily‑wage workers and informal sector workers without income, directly affecting their ability to buy food​

• VYFF distributed ready‑to‑eat food packets and dry ration kits containing essentials like rice, wheat flour, pulses, oil, and basic groceries to at‑risk families.​

• Special care was taken to reach single mothers, elderly people living alone, and families with young children so that no one slept hungry.

Community Response

• The relief service brought hope and assurance to families who felt forgotten during the crisis.​

• Local residents and well‑wishers appreciated the transparent, need‑based distribution and came forward to support with donations and volunteer time.​
